The Body as Guide and Resource
Trauma can affect the nervous system in many ways. It may show up as hyperarousal, shutdown, dissociation, chronic tension, numbness, or difficulty feeling safe.
Somatic therapy centers the body in healing. We may notice sensations, breath, posture, impulses, and subtle shifts in the body. Rather than relying only on retelling painful stories, we attend to what is happening in the present moment, building regulation, reconnecting with inner resources, and expanding our capacity for embodied experience.
Through slow, gentle, attuned work, the body is supported in softening patterns of protection that were once necessary. Integration happens gradually, without pushing beyond your capacity.
